On Tuesday, 18 April 2017, the Management Board of the Judo Federation of Serbia unanimously elected the new sporting director, Assistant Professor Dragan Atanasov, Vice Dean for Science at the Faculty of Sport.
-This is a great honor for me, but also that is a great responsibility because I have a very important, difficult and huge task and that is a reorganization of the entire working system of Judo Federation of Serbia. It is necessary to make these changes because Serbian judo should continue to achieve top results. Judo needs new ideas and it needs to connect with science, new trends in the sport from the practical, real life. On the other hand, this is a major challenge for the Faculty of Sport because our institution, on the basis of cooperation agreements that we have with the Judo Federation of Serbia, is putting all capacity in order to improve the system of judo. Because of all previous circumstances, our knowledge and work, in a very practical way, will be applied for future activities of the Judo Federation of Serbia. This will be an opportunity for our students to participate in a single process and be a part of the practical training. In fact, students from our departments Coaching in Sport, Sports Journalism and Sports Management, will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and promotion of judo in Serbia each one in its own field. Of course, these kind of internships and student projects will be organized under the mentorship of their teachers and also under my coordination. We will make a new Program of development of judo, we will adopt new ideas related to Marketing and Media presentation, as well as new programs of work for our national teams – said the recently elected sporting director of the Judo Federation.
Assistant Professor Atanasov, graduate professor of physical education, was engaged in the Judo Federation of Serbia, first as VD Secretary General of the Judo Federation, and after that he was elected General Secretary on the Assembly of the Judo Federation of Serbia. As General Secretary of the Federation he improved the work of the Federation, he brought the computer guidance competitive list, he made the Rule book about crossing competitors from one club to another, also the Rule book about registration of competitors, Rule book about competitions and Disciplinary Rule book. During his term, he organized two Balkan Championships, in Belgrade and in Bor. Now, as sports director of this organization, he has the opportunity to promote and contribute to the development of this particular sport in Serbia.
Congratulations to our professor on his designation and we wish him all the best in carrying out his new tasks.
