Sports Journalist – Bachelor with Honors
The main objective of this undergraduate course is education of graduate journalists through the acquisition of modern theoretical and practically applicable knowledge and skills for successful professional work in sports newsrooms of various media, sports organizations, information services, public relations services, public administration bodies and other institutions.
The structure of this course is designed in accordance with international higher education institutions; it is in accordance with the existing level of development in the field of cultural sciences and communications, based on the Bologna Declaration and in accordance with the requirements arising from the practical application of the knowledge needed in this area.
Students will acquire professional competencies for the jobs of editors, journalists, commentators, reporters, editors, media planners, presenters, researchers, spokespersons of sports organizations, sports industry, government authorities, NGOs and other institutions.
It is expected that competent graduate journalists will be the outcome of the learning process within this undergraduate course – trained to work in the demanding conditions of economy, human resources in the field of sports journalism that meet real market needs for resources of its kind in our country.
The structure of this course particularly points to obtain a clear and complete picture of the importance and practical use of knowledge acquired through this program of undergraduate studies. It is expected that through the appropriate structure of teaching content, students will acquire knowledge in the field of journalism, stylistics and rhetoric, communication, theory and techniques of journalism, written and oral expression, law in journalism, to develop research skills in journalism, sports journalism in the print media, sports agency journalism, sports radio and TV journalism, sports journalism in on-line magazines and the Internet, journalism in individual and recreational sports, journalism in team sports and other relevant content in the modern sports journalism.
In the last month of the final semester students have internship in leading media companies, with which the Faculty has signed cooperation agreements. Through this form of education, in cooperation with “Sports Journal”, daily paper “Sport”, TV “Sport Club”, sports media service “Sport Network” and radio station “Sport FM,” students of our Faculty obtain practical knowledge and learn from the most competent experts in the field.
