Our student at Master Academic Studies in Sports Management and currently the first-ranked judo player on the world ranking list in the category of up to 90 kilograms, Aleksandar Kukolj, started the new season in the best possible way. Kukolj, who defended the title of European champion this year, won the gold medal at the Grand slam in Yekaterinburg. In the final, he won excellent Belorussian, 21-year-old Jahor Varapayev, with which the Serbian national player clearly indicated that he is in excellent shape, just before the European Championship in Tel Aviv in April.
In the semi-finals Kukolj was inviolable in a match with the great Czech, David Klamert (bronze at the GP in Tunisia), and on his way to the gold medal, Aleksandar Kukolj achieved four victories. After the first round in which he was free, won in the second round Romanian Eduard Serban, while in the third round he won Mihael Marchedana from the United Arab Emirates.
We are congratulating Aleksandar Kukolj for great success and we wish him a lot of luck at the upcoming European Championship.
